This month I went to see Om Mij Moverende Redenen by Paulien Cornelisse. It is a comedy show at the theater in which she tells stories about life, mainly aiming at things that she finds odd. Pretty unexpected in a way, cause she actually got famous because she wrote the books Taal is zeg maar echt mijn ding and En dan nog iets, which are both solely about the use of the Dutch language. Great books, so I was wondering if she is a good comedian as well.

I must say, she is funny, because she is a lot like me. I could also get very aggressive if I would see a store that is called Everything for your Yoga lifestyle. Brr! Pauliens talent is that she picks out things that you can’t quite put your finger on, but still find annoying, and then explain to you what is annoying about it. I love it.

I did miss her language jokes in this show, cause that is what she is most famous for. I can understand the show should not just be about language, but a little bit more jokes about Dutch would have been awesome. I really liked how she just spoke up though, she was doing an excellent job. It is pretty amazing how she is on stage just by herself, talking away for 1.5 hours, while also being entertaining all throughout. Okay, except for the bit about her trip to Iceland, which was a bit odd, but other than that, it was a good show.
