Whiskey Tango Foxtrot: well done Tina Fey!

I do not understand why Whiskey Tango Foxtrot only has something like 65 percent on Rottentomatoes. This movie, with Tina Fey, Margot Robbie (oh hello!) and Martin Freeman in it, is really cool. It is about a group of journalists in Afghanistan, that have to chase the news and make sure they have amazing stories to be aired on television.

Even though the movie itself is not brilliant, there are many things to love about it. I for example love the topic: it’s original! How many times do you see a movie about the Afghan war, that is not specifically about the war but about something that has to do with it either way? And what I love as a journalist is that the way they show how things work there, and how tough the journalism world can be. It is of course all a bit in extremes, but still the hunt for news is real, and being freelance is super scary.

I was very surprised and excited to see Tina Fey in a role that is not extremely joke-y. It is based on a true story, and that shows. The story is very real, I can totally imagine that happening out there, with her boyfriend being a total dick to her, and herself trying to be a good girl while also being a go-getter. Really nice, I think Tina Fey did a really good job, she was very convincing and real. It is of course still kinda funny, it is not a totally serious movie, but at least it was not filled with the one bad joke, and then the next, et cetera.

Props to Tina Fey, for doing such a good job on Whiskey Tango Foxtrot!
